Damn. I feel bad for not donating now. Once I'm back at work Shai, some money is coming your way.

Edit: I would have donated had I known that I could. Shai, you should make it more prominent. If you are so inclined of course.

As a matter of interest, how do you estimate the number of users?

It's a fuzzy average of several factors:
Forum users * [estimated percentage of users who would bother registering on a forum]
Amount of donations * [estimated percentage of people will to donate]
Downloads * [estimated percent of how many of these downloads are from new users]
Downloads of typing lessons * [estimated percent of how many people would use the typing lessons]
People mentioning Colemak in blogs and the experience forum * [estimated percent of people who would write about it]
The amount of 3rd party Colemak related developments, websites and blogs * [estimated percent of people who would bother about it]
Unique website visitors * [estimated conversion rate]

All while taking into account that not everyone who downloads it ends up using it, some people just download out of curiosity but don't use it or give it up, some people would download it for use on more than one computer, some people just come to the forum to say they don't like it, ignoring bots that download the same file thousands of time, ignoring people who visit the site once but never come back, visitors that come from Wikipedia are much more likely to be interested than people coming from StumbleUpon, general rate of growth compared with last year's estimate, spam results, etc.

That sounds like a lot of math, but the number of people looks like it is growing fast because Wikipedia says that the estimated number of people for 2007 was 1,600. It almost doubled then. That sounds like progress for the community though the amount of donations seems to be quite minimal. Wish I could donate something...Colemak rocks. It would be nice though if more people used it. I wonder if there is anything that can be done to make some publicity for Colemak, or to at least get any articles written on it. (Also why is there not a Wikipedia article for Colemak? Why instead is there just a small section on the keyboard layout Wikipedia page?)

Great to see you back in the forums Shai - I was worried that you'd abandoned us!

Is any progress on the Windows driver likely? The "new" version is a 2 year old beta. I would offer to help, but I have no knowledge of C.

Agreed, I would also love to hear from Shai! As for stats check out https://forum.colemak.com/viewtopic.php?id=1624 where I attempt to approximate the amount of users.
