I'm in awe of these fast manual typists.

Every bit of typing advice that I've garnered elsewhere seems to appear in these short films!

Towards the end of part 1 and the beginning of part 2 you'll find some finger/typing exercises.

Not sure if this advice translates just as well to computer keyboard typing, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I'm always looking for videos highlighting good fingering over basic introductory videos to touch typing - so if anyone finds anything that rivals these, then please post.

Shame you can't watch this video with free software. Would've liked to see it.

Not sure what you are objecting to, the format or the player?

You could always download the video and play with VLC?

You can use youtube-dl then vlc, I think.

Youtube also has a HTML5 player, so enabling that should, in theory, obviate the need for flash.

If you don't have a flash player, it automatically checks if it can play the video with HTML 5, even if you haven't enlisted for the trail.

The problem is that only videos with WebM transcodes can play without flash, and that is assuming they don't have ads.

    I don't see how that's a problem?

Edit: oh, i guess not all of them do yet.  According to jdownloader (incidentally another decent program for this) these two do, however.

adblock plus or similar blocks youtube ads, I believe.

It said somewhere that videos with ads are not supported by the HTML 5 player, because the ads required flash to play.

    US Navy Training Film MN-1512a

Public domain film from the Library of Congress Prelinger Archive.

Found it in unencumbered formats here:

    http://archive.org/details/basic_typing_1
    http://archive.org/details/basic_typing_2

And I'll hat tip Lenore Benton while I'm at it.

(So grab it, transcode it, share it, and drop some money in the EFF coffers while you are at it.)

Any comment on the content of the video?

Do not skimp on your keyboard, either.

Dvorak typist here.  Please take my comments with a grain of salt.
