so I found this article and was experimenting with putting everything in one row.
for colemak "j,b,q,z,x" reach is little uncomfortable. what do you think about putting them in some dead key layer?
it would be probably possible to put whole layout in home row. the important thing is, you need easy access to those layers.
any thoughts?

I was thinking more about some kind of tweak for colemak (with pc) . I am multilingual programmer so I use a lot of keys, z and j quite frequently
Ah, yes, a "steno/chording mod". Someone did that a while back but I can't remember who and I haven't heard about it in a while.
I think that using at least three rows is beneficial, since fingers are agile. Some hardware solutions like the DataHand use leaning on one row instead of multiple rows, but the principle is the same really. I don't think there's a huge difference between leaning and changing rows.
Either you need several thumb modifiers, or in-row chording for this to work. Not sure how efficient either solution is, or whether there could be actual benefits apart from the coolness factor.

Yeah, I think it doesn't have to be one row, more like "put those difficult to reach keys (b,z, etc) to the second layer".
And the layer switcher would need to be easy to access.
