Also, I use that graphic to represent the Extend key, or generally a Caps key with possibilities. ;-)

Oh, I thought it generally had the arrow upwards, like Shift. Downwards makes no sense?

Although the keyboards I can find around here just have the text "Caps Lock" on it, nothing else.

That's just ANSI-centric. ;-)

The downwards arrow makes sense in the sense that it locks down the Shift, but not in the sense that the upwards Shift arrow itself symbolizes upper case. Another symbol is an up arrow with a base under it, like it's fortified. Maybe that's a better representation of CapsLock.

For my usage as the Extend modifier though, it feels right. The down arrow represents going in a different direction from Shift, and since Extend is mostly about going "down" from the modifier to scan code level it's a good symbol.

But hey Ghen, why so serious in the joking around thread? ;-)

Oh! Sorry to further hijack the joking around thread, but I've never seen the CapsLock arrow pointing down before either! And we are pretty much fully ISO here in the UK.

Does this fall into one of those "English-speaking-countries vs rest-of-the-world" things?

Probably not. And I was trying to be funny about the ANSI image. No, I haven't seen the down-arrow-Caps anywhere except on German boards. Not to my knowledge.

So much for trying to be funny...

Sorry, I was genuinely wondering why it appeared te be upside down, thought it was maybe part of the joke. ;-)

You know who else is upside down? Batman! And I replied with a Joker quote, lulz! ^_^

[edit:] I've had some more feedback and it seems more users stumble on the upside-down arrow. So I guess I ought to change it. Will do.

What the heck is going on in this video...

There an article too: https://www.beyondtheechochamber.com/th … s-colemak/

Apparently we're the best layout out of the main three though. We need work on Satan Summoning and Scrolling Through Infinite News Feeds though

He probably didn't use Extend with his Colemak. I have a hotkey set for summoning Satan Lucifer, Lord Of Lies And Rakish Elegance. It's a variant of the Colemak-ⲔⲰ[eD] one. And Scrolling Through Infinite Feeds is fairly easy to automate with most tools.

[Update:]
We improved Colemak with a Demon Summoning hotkey, and the article author made a new test in which Colemak won on that point too! Yay and Iä!  (~ ̄▽ ̄)~

It should be upside-down only on Australian boards. That would be (nearly) funny.

I have started a test on Scrolling Through Infinite Feeds, but I haven't got to the end of the test yet.

I can't type on Dvorak therefore it's bad

Oh wait this is a thread for funny content? Never mind...

If a keyboard layout can't be used by anyone immediately and without any practice, the layout is bad.
I can't type on Dvorak immediately without any practice.

Therefore Dvorak is a bad layout.

QED

Can't argue with that logic. It's quite ironclad. ;)

A person turned on the computer without a keyboard plugged in. When she turns on the computer, the computer finds out that there is no keyboard attached and it gives a “Keyboard Error” message. She then asks “Why did it give me a keyboard error? There isn’t even a keyboard attached?

The push for fewer keys continues. This one lacks a thumb cluster, but otherwise it has the most necessary keys. It has perma-CapsLock, saving key presses. The short home row eliminates stretches. And the built-in layout allows some insane rolls on common words such as 'you'. Personally, I think I'd like to squeeze in a 1! key there though...!!!1!1!!!
