It is happening, Colemak is comming to windows somewhere in fall.
It is already available in preview build 26040
This news is actually a few months old, I just found out today but I couldn't find anything on the colemak.org/com sites.
This is the first time I got exited about windows 11.
Indeed, Colemak will be included in Windows, starting from Windows 11, version 24H2.
It will appear alongside several other new keyboard layouts in this version. The full list can be seen on the history page on kbdlayout.info.
Of particular interest to this forum might be that BÉPO will be included. BÉPO is an ergonomic layout, but optimised around French instead of English. It had the benefit of being included as part of France's NF Z71-300 national standard on keyboard layouts, alongside an improved version of their AZERTY layout.
The German Extended (E1 and E2) layouts are also interesting, as you pointed out earlier. They aren't ergonomic ttbomk, but packed with glyphs. It'll be interesting to watch.
