    Hey all
I'd like to switch to Colemak, but I need something suitable for writing code and special symbols. I've been using Programmers Dvorak for 10 years now and I'd like to try something better, but I need the comfort of writing special symbols. I'm not familiar with the Colemak variants, so please help me out here. I think that Colemak-DH could be the answer for me and especially the layers feature (which I don't understand). Please bright some light in this and explain what setup should I have? Should I enroll my custom bindings? I mostly use tenkeyless keyboards. I'm would like to be able to use the keyboard layout on Linux, Windows and MacOS.

Set up your most common symbols in a separate layer which is activated with a separate key. AltGr is a good option for this on a standard keyboard, but an even better option is an egro keyboard with dedicated thumb keys. Also don't underestimate the power of an "Extend" layer for navigation and editing - the combination of symbols and navigation layers is super powerful.

Here's my full setup if you want inspiration.
