    Hello,

I use a flash drive mostly for school and I have autohotkey with colemak on it . It's so nice to have it when going around to different computers around here in campus. I have read the forums on here from other people saying to open up autohotkey.exe file and look up at the script it gives you and edit it to give you back CAPS LOCK functionality back. I want to assign keys on the keyboard when I need to use the caps lock feature. I was wondering on how I do this specifically. I have looked on these forums but found no complete solution. Do I need any special software to do this or do I just need autohotkey.exe? Thanks

    JC

the portable colemak executable is a compiled autohotkey script. If you install autohotkey on any computer, you will be able to compile scripts (like the modified colemak script) to execables that can run without autohotkey. You can get the installer from autohotkey's website.

I strongly advice that you use Farkas Máté's superior Autohotkey(++) program, PKL:
    https://forum.colemak.com/viewtopic.php?id=345
    https://sourceforge.net/project/showfil … _id=213088

If the Portable_Colemak program doesn't do what you need, the Portable_Keyboard_Layout is very configurable. If that hasn't got the layout file you need it can be made or quite easily edited from an existing one.

Not quite sure what it is you wish to do? Get the CapsLock back? Or move it elsewhere? Either way, PKL could handle that.

I wish to get the caps lock feature back onto the keyboard. I do like having the backspace take the place of the caps lock button and would not mind assigning another set of keys to activate caps lock when I need to use it. Thanks for the quick replies.

Hokay. I'll tell you what you need to do using PKL:
    - If you want the CapsLock->Backspace remapping gone, edit the layout.ini file in the layouts/colemak folder and just remove the whole line starting with "CapsLock = OEM_1".
    - If you want another key to become the CapsLock instead, tell us which one and maybe we can ask Farkas how to set it up if it turns out to be difficult. It'd involve making a new line in the layout.ini file with that key's scancode and I suppose a bunch of ={CapsLock} entries a la how the CapsLock line works now.
