I wonder what you people think of the PStart program? It can be found at http://www.pegtop.net/start
I use it to launch my 'pkl.exe' (portable keyboard layout) program and 'sticky shift keys' program. 

Just be careful when you unplug the usb drive.  First exit 'PStart' and then safely remove the usb drive. 
I don't know what damage can be done, by just unplugging the USB drive?
