    Hi everyone,

I'm just starting out with Colemak, taking the "cold turkey" approach, more or less.

I'm finding early that a few very common words are actually quite awkward.

The worst example I have noticed so far: you (and its derivatives: your, yours, you're, you've, you'd). My right arm & wrist are actually hurting from writing an email where I was giving someone some feedback/advice about their team - lots and lots of "you" and "your"!

    Has anyone else found this?

    Cheers,
    Will.

Yes, I think a lot of people find something about colemak uncomfortable at first.
I too had difficulty with various words, and I think that the derivatives of 'you' were in there. However, it's very efficient once you get used to it.

The cold turkey approach you're taking means that you'll get that sort of pain when you're trying to get stuff done, which might be frustrating. Perhaps you should consider another approach, such as using a tutor program to start with, or colemak by night.

Yes. 'You' and especially 'oil' was very difficult words for me in the beginning.

All these difficulties reflect the wonderful, and sometimes hard, internal rewiring process inside your brain.

This hard process is probably very good for you.  :)  Newer research shows that your brain needs aerobic exercise to keep Alzheimer's Disease away. So gogogo, use that noodle!
