I have created some lessons or sets for the words that I used to find difficult and I remember when I practiced the first 6 sets for one day, I jumped by 5WPM. You can try them, maybe they will be helpful. I used to find set 4 and 5 to be the most difficult and although I typed at some point 50 WPM, I was never able to g; above 30WPM for these sets.

How can I plug these into TypeFaster?   Text doc ???

Figured it out. Copied one of the original .txt files so it is Unicode (didn't want to stuff around), copied your lists into seprate files called, as you had, Set 1, Set 2, etc, and then dropped them into C:\Program Files\TypeFaster\users\spinifex\layouts\Colemak  with the original word lists.

Works a treat.

Thank you very much. Fantastic. This will keep me going within TypeFaster for weeks.

OR from the graphical user interface(GUI), by going to :
Edit settings > Edit lessons > New Lesson

However, I do not recommend using Typefaster beyond learning the layout, because I felt that it gives you a false sense of accuracy, since the letters in each word are far apart from each other and you can recognize them easily. I used to write some words correctly in it, but when I switched the text to another program, it was more difficult to write since the letters are more close to each other, which is of course the way they should be. I used instead RapidTyping, which is very similar to Typfaster in terms of typing experienced but has the letters more dense or close to each other. Also it is very easy to add text or create lessons. You just hit go to lesson editor (f4), and paste the text there. You can create a course using the plus sign at the bottom of the lesson editor, and in each course you can have sub folder or Lessons, and in each sub folder you can have several lessons. The beauty is about this is that you actually do not need to create anything on the hard drive, you just name things in the program and it takes care of the reset. Also it has very nice statistics(f3).

Another alternative, which I am currently using to increase my accuracy, is Amphetype

you can add your lessons by going to the lesson generator tap, and the program will created either a single copy or multiple copes of each word interleaved according to the selection made int the field:
" In generating....X copies ...... size Y"

for example if you pasted the text "about the" and chose

X,Y --> Out put will be
2,2 --> about the about the
2,1 --> about about the the
I usually choose (3,4)
then you save your lesson by naming it at the bottom of the program and hit "Add to Source"

After that you go to the "Sources" tap, and you can find it there. To type your lesson Select in the Selection method drop menu "In Order", expand your lesson, and double click on the text you see. The nice thing about the program is that it keep repeating the same chunks of text all over again to you until you go above a certain WPM and Accuracy, which you can adjust in the "Sources" tap.

Hi Nimbostratur,

This last Set, Set 8, has a good bias towards words being typed as much as possible with one hand only.    I really like this set, but maybe that is because I found it easy, or it could be that I was enthusiastic about doing it.

How did you construct this word set?

Indeed it has the bias you mentioned. I was looking  for the following combinations while making the list "in ie en er es ies sc ec ine ion ar" or words that contain combination of letters on the home row especially (r s i e n ) as they can be problematic for me sometimes,  especially when I try to alternate between them at high speed.

I usually form the sets either by:
1- gathering desired and difficult words while I am typing   on hi-games, typeracer, Mavis beacon, etc...
2- Or, if I want a particular combination of letters (ien) or words containing the letters (r, e, s), then I search them over the links given below using regular expressions such as *ien* , *r*e*s*, etc....

I sometimes freeze up on words with "rds", so I made a lesson for it. Then I threw in "rts" so I wouldn't type "rds" everywhere and then I threw in the other letters on the left index.

'r' and 's' are confusing at the beginning and 'd','g','b' makes your index feel heavy on Colemak and it is easy to type 't' or 'b' instead of 'd'.
BTW, good and difficult lesson, my speed was below 25 WPM for the first time. Maybe I was tired after typing a lot today, but I will try it tomorrow

Yes I use it for the "Lesson for f, p, g , l keys:", and the lessons that come in the program. For other lessons that I have created, I use RapidTyping because I feel so lazy to correct the mistakes, and the program allows me either to step over the error or it stops me when I attempt to input a wrong letter and I do not need to hit backspace. Also it allows me to organize lesson in groups and provide some nice statistic.

hmm, I discovered that I am really weak in distinguishing between ght and gth, and I made 3 errors in gth. I am embarrassed to say this but I only managed 13WPM for two times, but of course this shall improve later when I rest as now I am really tired and I must sleep. I must say though  that this is a really confusing lesson.

I have added some words that contain *nion* so you do not know which is which :),  but I tried also to include some simple words in between the lengthy ones to make the lesson more pleasurable, though I doubt it. Do not be frustrated in the beginning, cuz you will make mistakes and I managed only 10WPM on the first trial.

I know!  These two have put together some great lessons.   

I haven't tested speed for a while but I can feel the improvement whenever I am working.   

Keep it up guys.    I am always happy to try some more lessons.  Especially as you come across your own problem areas.  I can almost guarantee that if either of you have identified a key combination that is giving you trouble, then someone else will also be having trouble with th same key combination.

Well, okay - Colemak isn't optimized for Danish. And those are fairly common words. But no matter what you'll always have a few awkward words and that's not what breaks a layout. More importantly, there are remedies for some of your troubles!

godt lidt: Use alternative fingering, moving the middle finger in with the index finger so that when you go for the 'd' with the index, the middle finger hits the following 't'.
rigtigt vigtigt: Same approach
sagde lagde: Slide from the 'g' to the 'd'; this is easy to do on my IBM keyboard but may be harder on some boards (especially flat laptop boards)
bagved: No suggestions; it's just one of those words you'll have to type in two parts I guess
folk hvilke klar: The 'lk' digraph isn't special for Danish. I use the middle finger for the 'l' and index for 'k'.
enkel: Tricky; one possibility is to move in the hand for an inwards roll but I wouldn't train that myself.
hjem: Just one of those words, you know.
hej nej jeg dig dog: I fail to see the problem? Unless your hand position is wrong somehow these shouldn't present a problem I think.

These techniques are worth learning if you type a lot. And if you don't, you don't have a big problem.
