Has anybody done the 50 minute typing test?
    The website address is:

    http://hi-games.net/typing-test,3000/watch?u=2641

I managed to do 68 words per minute.  This was done on the Friday 22 June 2012 early in morning between 5 and 6 o'clock
just soon after I woke up from my sleep.

Please could you list your wpm score here.

A few months ago I did it and got 81 wpm, as you can see on the side of the page. Someone suggested it in the forum. Try to find the page if you want.

Looks like Sean Wrona beat Barbara Blackburn's record by 24 words per minute.

I've never gotten this to work under Linux.  Which is just as well for my own sanity!  I've gotten hold of a Windows machine - so will try it out one rainy afternoon.

@Pinkyache: Works just fine on my Ubuntu/Firefox (or Chrome for that matter)! There are a few different Java (does it also use Flash?) options, might want to look into that. I've got openjdk-6-jre with icedtea (whatever that is).

Got it working with the icedtea 6 plugin and firefox nightly on Debian Squeeze x86_64.  I think I made about 20 minutes.  Not sure if there is any benefit in typing for that length of time however.

Oh come on,  a 1 and 5 second test.  That's just silly!

I think this was mentioned though as in the hour long (or just marginally longer) test requires changing the url.

This is a nice diversity. I have tried all 1 second test to 60 second test, just for fun.

A new marathon edurance record!  67 wpm for 1 hour!
When I started I was going about seventy words per minute for about  twenty minutes.
But my speed crept slowly down.  Thanks to my new flat keyboard, my fingers did not hurt anymore,
like they did with the other keyboard with a steep slope.
This was done on the Wednesday, 20th June 2012 at 4 o'clock in the morning BST.

This is the 9 minute test and I got 70 wpm.

Could anybody work out what finger distance I have travelled if my speed was 67 wpm for 1 hour?
Could you also work out what the finger repeat rate would be?
Could you do that for the Colemak, Dvorak and Qwerty layouts and post it here.

Try patojk keyboard layout optimizer website
    http://patorjk.com/keyboard-layout-analyzer/

Finger distance depends on what specific words you type and your layout, so it is impossible to deduce it from typing speed.

67 wpm for 1 h equals 4000 words which means 20000 characters. So find a text similar to what you typed on that test (a quote collection) and paste a 20000 character long chunk of it into the analyzer. That should give you an idea I think?

I took a print screen image of my results but unfortunately the others have gone missing and the only one is the Dvorak one.
    So for Dvorak layout:
    Finger repeats: 787
    Metres travelled: 242.41

So is it possible from these results to convert them into Colemak and QWERTY?
If so, could you show me how.

If you do a set of 5-minute tests in Dvorak, QWERTY and Colemak and multiply up the results, wouldn't that be accurate enough for your purposes?
