how i learned quickly (regardless it you're a touchtypist or not, these tips will help)
-use it when chatting with your none touch typist friends (it's ok to type slowly)
-copy the common words you type into a text file. practice with this file everyday.
do you program?
-practice writing the if, else, colons, {}, () , and commonly used functions of your language.
starting out:
start with an onscreen display like the autohotkey script bundled in the download.
in linux i haven't checked if they have one like that in autohotkey. (could it run under windows emulator (wine)?)
if you program with it, don't try it while on your programming day job - if you are supervised you might be thought to be an inefficient worker..

i'm from qwerty, since grade 7 we learned to type in computer class. i'm currently a php programmer, it's hard to adjust from writing stuff which you used to type fast
then perpetually make mistakes. so there, that's how i learned. as of last check my fastest wpm on colemak w/ onscreen is approx. 20 wpm. this is after two weeks of on-and-off practice.
