    Hi All,
I'm in my second week and up to a whopping 13 words a minute.
    (From 30-50 Querty.

Should I go slower and concentrate on accuracy, use a chart more or go faster using just  memory and make more mistakes.
In other words, slower and less errors or faster  and make more errors?

Is it better to do away with the chart and just go by memory?

    Any suggestions is much appreciated

i would definitely advise tarmak over cold turkey

    and always accuracy over speed

rather than see how quickly you can smash through the tarmak steps I would spin it round and see just how slowly you can proceed - that could lead to a highly pleasant transition?

Basically, accuracy is the most important and will even lead to higher speed on its own. However, once in a while mix it up and try some speed sessions without accuracy focus! You learn best by varying the learning.

The general consensus for Tarmak progression seems to be that you should have about 97% accuracy and 40 WPM before proceeding, if I recall correctly? If your QWERTY was basically no more than that, maybe lower the expectation a bit to get by, and accept around 30 WPM per step?

possibly raise the bar to 98%, i.e. a typeracer 'green light' score

Thanks for the advise, I'll concentrate on accuracy over speed.

As you can see, there's some leeway in terms of where you should put the bar. I think it's about personal style and preferences to some extent, but at the same time you probably shouldn't be pleased with less than 97% accuracy.

When I pleasure type books using Amphetype, I set the limit at 97% accuracy and 45 WPM or thereabouts. That way, I won't get too many annoying repeats and can proceed in the book at a sensible pace – even when it's got special parts like those pesky "*       *       *       *       *       *       *" lines! :-) For a typing challenge, I'd set the limits at 98% and 65 WPM or so.
