here's some backstory:
1 week ago, my friend switched from learning dvorak to learning colemak, hearing that colemak was more efficient and faster.
I am a qwerty typist, with a 3 min speed of 140wpm (typing.com), 1 min speed of 168wpm (monkeytype), 15s speed of 192wpm (monkeytype).
for the first 3 days, i practiced only the homerow for colemak (with a printout of the layout for only about 30 mins on first day)
for the next few days, keybr.com got me up and running with most of the letters, no image of layout
i was testing on monkeytype everyday as well, improving gradually with ~7wpm per day
now, i can do about 60wpm for 60 seconds (monkeytype)
i practiced around 10 - 30 mins every single day
when i could type at around 20wpm with english 1k on monkeytype, i switched to colemak at home, for school when i didn't need to type fast
my friend is kinda struggling, and i think it might be because he almost always has the image of the layout on his screen
is this theory true?
i'll keep this updated every few days (no promises tho)
day 0 since this post:
an additional noteO i keep on finding that i occasionally use colemak lettering when I'm typing in QWERTY, annoying but it goes away after ~5 min
