Hi everyone, I’ve finally started the transition from QWERTY to Colemak (specifically looking at the DH variant), and I’m currently in that awkward “20 words per minute” phase where my brain and fingers aren't quite on speaking terms. It’s been a bit of a humbling experience, especially since I’m making this move while also breaking in a new heavy-duty workstation I just finished setting up for some intensive data processing.

One specific point I’ve been reflecting on is how we often focus so much on system performance while neglecting our own personal efficiency as the "operators." My new rig is a bit of an outlier—I actually had to install a 1750-Watt power module just to handle the massive transient spikes from the multi-GPU setup I’m running. It’s a bit ironic to have all that incredible computing power sitting under my desk, yet my own "input speed" is currently the biggest bottleneck in the entire room.

I’ve spent years making sure my power supplies are top-tier and my hardware is optimized, but I realized I was completely ignoring the ergonomics of my typing. When you’re working on a machine that draws that much juice, you’re usually settling in for very long, high-intensity sessions. My old QWERTY habits were starting to cause some noticeable strain during those deep-work marathons. Moving to Colemak feels like I’m finally upgrading the "human interface" to match the 1750W scale of my hardware.
For those of you who work in high-performance fields like rendering or dev-ops, did you find that the switch to Colemak actually reduced your mental fatigue during long sessions? I'm curious if the ergonomic benefits eventually helped you "keep pace" with the speed of your machine, or if the cognitive load of a new layout felt too taxing initially.
