Ah, sorry. The link in the Big Bag Of Tricks (for PKL) topic had been updated but not in this topic. Fixed now.

If anyone here is a Mac user and wants to transition using Tarmak, I've made an XML configuration for KeyRemap4MacBook that lets you step through the transition:

Tarmak private.xml

Thank you!

I might be overstepping, but could you make one for the new Tarmak (ETSOI aka J-Hopper) as well?  I would but I don't have access to a mac.

The first two steps are the same; only steps 3 and 4 differ:

So here's what karl's "ETSOI" transitional steps 3 and 4 look like (steps 1 & 2 being as before):

karl (in effect) said:

3) The (J)>R>S>D loop, getting RSD into place without disturbing the semicolon

 q  w  F {J} G  y  u  i  o  p
   a {R}{S} T {D} h  N  E  l  ;     The "Tarmak3(ETS)" transitional layout (R>S>D>G>T>F>E>K>N>J)
     z  x  c  v  b  K  m

4) The (J)>Y>O>;>P loop, getting O in place and finalizing the big loop

 q  w  F {P} G {J} u  i {Y}{;}
   a  R  S  T  D  h  N  E  l {O}    The "Tarmak4(ETSO)" transitional layout (Y>O>;>P>R>S>D>G>T>F>E>K>N>J)
     z  x  c  v  b  K  m

5) The L>U>I self-contained loop - again, step 5 is simply the full Colemak!

 q  w  F  P  G  J {L}{U} Y  ;
   a  R  S  T  D  h  N  E {I} O     The Colemak layout (Y>O>;>P>R>S>D>G>T>F>E>K>N>J & L>U>I)
     z  x  c  v  b  K  m

In the Big Bag (xkb) topic, user jpeg729 informs that the same-finger 'PO/OP' bigram of the old Tarmak3(ETO) step is bad. This is another plus for the new ETR step, I guess, as that keeps the O and P in their QWERTY positions where everyone is used to them instead of messing them up.
