"Alternative fingering" is where fingers cover keys that they are normally not supposed to. One of the great things about Colemak is it largely does away with the need for alternative fingering due to its lower same-finger ratio. However, I have found I naturally do it for some select words nevertheless. These are currently:

    * Words starting with wr: write, wrong et. al
    * Words starting with kn: know
    * Words containing nk: think, thank

Do you guys use any similar tricks for other words, and if so, for which?

I don't use any alternative fingering techniques, and never did on any layout. I do use the "slide down" technique on downward same finger.

I notice that when talking about same finger, no one ever mentions e, which is the most common same finger on Colemak. I wonder why.

On Colemak, for "wr", I just slide my finger down.
For "kn/nk", I use my middle and index fingers. Same goes for "lk", "dg", "bt", "pt", "tv", "nl", etc.

On Dvorak, I use pinky-ring-middle for "scr" (i swapped C and L), and pretty much the same deal as colemak on letters in the centre column.

ETA: Oh! And you know the one thing I like a lot about Dvorak that is actually penalised on online comparisons?... it's the same-finger "GH" digraph. Some of my fastest keying on dvorak involve the "GHT" and "GTH" combos. (Though, I was faster but more error-prone on those two combos under Colemak...)

Yeah, I notice that sometimes. I've seen people who think ALL same finger is easy because it's on only one finger. I don't get that. I can understand sometimes, like MY on my layout, which is HK on Colemak.
