I just happened across this article

It's from several months old already, and it says the proposed AZERTY reforms should be announced by "the summer". Did that happen as I didn't see any follow up..?  Might there be a new standard for french keyboards?  There is already BEPO, so I wonder if that's in any way related.  Or maybe they just want to make it closer to Qwerty since Azerty is particularly terrible.

But it would be interesting if a major government started paying attention to the issue of inefficient and badly designed keyboard layouts.
