Be sure to select someone's post, right click and search for it in Google. Half the posts as of recently coming up are from ages ago, and have been reposted by bots for some completely unknown reason.

    Downvote, report and move along.

Plot twist: The post telling you to downvote bots was itself written by a bot to gain your trust. ;)

Are you saying that NottNott is a bot NottNott? A NottNottBot? :-o

How can I know that you're not a bot telling me that to throw off the bot hunters? Present your Turing! :-D

    Or rather, your Winograds:

    Winograd said:

    •    The trophy doesn't fit into the brown suitcase because it's too [small/large]. What is too [small/large]?
         Answers: The suitcase/the trophy.

    •    Jane gave Joan candy because she [was/wasn't] hungry. Who [was/wasn't] hungry?
         Answers: Joan/Jane.

    •    The woman held the girl against her [chest/will]. Whose [chest/will]?
         Answers: The woman's/the girl's

    There are two possible outcomes:

    1. A NottNott bot he is not.
    2. The NottNott bot got caught.

And say, that's an interesting development! I've been following the history of AI for some time, but Winograds were new to me. :)

I enjoyed those too. It's easy to understand how in nearly all cases, humans can do those and bots cannot. Unless the bot emulates a human with poor language skills...?

The subject matter on the post usually gives them away. They either (i) are totally off-topic; or (ii) even if they are slightly on-topic, talk about typing/keyboards in general, but are not convincing as a a real person making their first post in the Colemak forum or (iii) they copy-paste from an topic several years ago in the forum. The 3rd type are harder to spot, but in principle, could be detected automatically. It's certainly an arms race. Would like to see extra checks/barriers in place for first-posters.

Designing algorithms for a computer to create what is likely to be humorous or beautiful to a human would be a complex endeavor indeed. Surely there would be common patterns and "guidelines" to follow, but do patterns alone define what a joke, pun, or piece of art is? I don't think so. That may be a long way off.

Then again, I didn't think accurate image processing for a computer was something I would see happen during my lifetime. Surprises like those are great. :)

Have I managed to adequately demonstrate my personhood yet? ;)

Dammit, I was hoping to stump at least one of you guys, I'll keep in mind that next time I'll base64 encode an image and post it :p

Cool ghen! But vanilla Colemak... is that what you're still using then? :-D

I actually read your encoded message by "typing" it on my QWERTY labeled keyboard. ;-)

No, I use Colemak[eD]-CAW+Ext of course. But I work so much with the layout implementations that I know the variants pretty well.

I'm not saying that I encoded your message at any kind of typing speed. ;-)

I know that, of course. ;-)
But yes, I'm using standard Colemak, as I have been since 2008.

Thinking of steganography? Now that'd be a challenge. Even a simple encoding system used on the text, followed by embedding the text in an image, would be pretty-nigh impossible for a person to decode by sight alone.

That would be a bit too evil, I was just thinking of posting a picture coded in base64 (binary file translated into characters) (this is the same way that e-mail is doing attachments), it's usually quite easy to see what you are looking at if you know what it is, but just looks like gibberish otherwise, a small tip is that usually the end of the messages are padded with ====.

Or I could have written the message in a shorthand system that I divesed a bit ago but then I guess I'd put a link in there as well ;)

aha, it all makes sense now.
NottNott's rapidly increasing wpm count... it must be because he is a bot.
Surely no human can type that fast ;)
