Sorry, I can't reproduce your problem.  It only takes 7 hits of the capslock for me.  I never heard of anyone claiming that happening before.  weird.

I am using doublecommand version 1.6.5 with OS X 10.4.11  on a Macbook.

Are you using the beta version 1.6.6 ?
Are you using Leopard ?

did you see this ?
new Built-In Keyboard Firmware Update - please disable DoubleCommand before applying this update, you can safely add DoubleCommand back afterwards.

or this ?
My advice is to disable DoubleCommand before upgrading to avoid upgrade problems, then enable when you've got everything else sorted out.

Bad news is the developing seems to be messing with the capslock-backspace option in version 1.6.6b

I noticed the snapshot of the preference pane does not show that option on the home page ?   Is anyone using the beta ?  It that true or is that an old picture ?

Hey i'm using doublecommand to remap caps lock to backspace but now i have to hit capslock twice to to backspace, rather annoying. Is there a way around this?

Yes.

Don't use double command, (you must remove it, or the next steps could really bork your ability to type)

The instructions at https://colemak.com/Mac have the solution linked from here:
https://forum.colemak.com/viewtopic.php?pid=2562#p2562
which is to:
1. remove double command (a bit fiddly, you have do delete two folders)
2. get keyremap4macbook: http://www.pqrs.org/tekezo/macosx/keyre … index.html
3. get PC Keyboard hack: http://www.pqrs.org/tekezo/macosx/keyre … extra.html

It works fine. The caps lock light stays on all the time for me, but that I can live with. Key repeat works (and seems to be adjustable from the menu I've seen, although I've never messed with it).

You want to remap caps lock to "del"

The one caveat is you can't remap backspace (del) to anything, as the caps lock key is linked to it, rather than to a specific command, so it just follows it to whatever you make. I want to remap backspace to train me to use caps instead, but this doesn't look like an easy option at present.
