I have remapped control to alt-gr because I'm switching to emacs (try pressing control-alt-a). The bad thing is that all control-alt-* combinations don't work, apparently because of the physics of my keyboard. Does anyone know a keyboard model that has independent alt and alt-gr keys? Thanks

All European keyboards have an Alt key to the left and an AltGr to the right.

On Windows machines at least, AltGr is simply translated in the system to Ctrl+Alt, and there is no separate shift state bit for the AltGr key. I think there's some trickery that prevents Ctrl+Alt from working as AltGr but the use of Ctrl+Alt in hotkey combinations is still frowned upon.

    Not sure whether that's helpful.

First of all I am interested in improving the use of the modifier keys. To see what my preferences for moving them are read my post and follow both links there.
