At first I thought, I was capable of handwriting around 30 WPM, and I wanted to clarify this, so I created a small Java application (only 14K) to help me in testing my hand writing speed, and I have provided a default text for testing. My best score that I could achieve is shown in the image below, which also describes how to use the application. You can download the application from either of the following urls

    http://ifile.it/p40r9e2
    http://ifile.it/p40r9e2/HandWriting.rar

The application should run on any OS(windows, Linux, etc..) since it is written in Java, provided that you have jre.
The  application calculates the writing speeds with or without the space included, and although you can write your own text, for the comparison to be fair try to use the default text in the application. So, give it a try and tell us how fast can you handwrite. I think you would be surprised how slow you are, and you would really appreciate your typing speed and your keyboard :).

Could you make it so that the routine waits for any keypress after you've clicked Start (or did you do that already)? And then it may be best to have a certain keypress finish input instead of a mouse click which is slow and annoying to do. For instance, typing a '|' character (or some other character not in your text) finishes.

Here is a new version HandWriting v1.1

    http://ifile.it/j3sope6
    http://ifile.it/j3sope6/HandWritingV1.1.rar

For the default provided text you can start the timer by hitting any character (a-z) or number keys and you can stop the timer by hitting any character or number key. If you decided to use your own text, the focus will be moved to the text area, then you have to hit the start button first to give it the focus, and then you can start/stop the timer by hitting any character/number keys.

Hope this will help you gain few WPM :). Enjoy

you're welcome, and I guess that Kana is some kind of Japanese or Chinese letters!
